Good to know

There are famous ways of communicating in Ghana that you will get used to quickly: Just ask some local people and they will be helpful to explain the Ghanaian way of life, e.g.:

  • The Hiss: Call a waiter with a "hzzzzzzz!" and don`t be astonished when people on a street market try to attract your attention with this sound.
  • Greet people, when they are standing in a group, from the right hand side to the left and avoid showing the back of the hand towards someone.
  • About Prices: Negotiate them before enjoying a service (e.g. a ride with a taxi)
  • ...and try to learn the Ghanaian handshake with clicking the fingers!
