| AboutThe Geological Survey Department (GSD) of Ghana was established in 1913 as the `Gold Coast Geological Survey´.
MISSIONThe main task of GSD is to undertake geological mapping, research and investigations to generate, collect and store geoscientific data and knowledge. The survey has the responsibility to advise the State and the general public on matters relating to geological implications in national development such as issues concerning mineral ressource, environment, groundwater management, land use planning and geohazards. Besides, the Survey shall disseminate its findings in a user friendly way to stakeholders, the industry and the public at large.
